Chapter awards

The 2021-2022 awards cycle is currently CLOSED.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 8th, 2022 at 11:59pm.

 

Given the recent transition to online classes, all application materials can be submitted over email to the Co-Presidents at psichi@psych.ubc.ca by 11:59pm on March 28th. Reference letters, if required, can be attached to these application materials, or emailed directly from referees. Please include “Psi Chi Awards: [Award Title]” in your email title.

Award winners will be announced at our induction ceremony on May 10th.

 

Awards available, please click on the title of each award to view application requirements:

Suedfeld Scholar Award (SSA)

Description: An award recognizing the most outstanding student combining excellence in academics, research and service/leadership. This is UBC Psi Chi’s most prestigious award. Award value is $500.

Goldsmith-Whillans Award for Outstanding Student Leadership

Description: A service/leadership-based award designed to recognize an outstanding student leader(s) in our department and/or community. Award value is $250.

Distinguished Undergraduate Research Award (DURA)

Description: A research-based award designed to recognize an outstanding student researcher(s) in our department or an affiliated lab/facility. Award value is $250.

Arguelles-So Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Award

Description: An award designed to honour a student who has made significant contributions to learning, research, or service efforts that seek to further equity, diversity, and inclusion in the UBC Psychology community. Award value is $400.

Awards currently on hold:

Eich Undergraduate Travel Award (EUTA)

Description: A research-based award designed to financially support undergraduate research presentations at national or international conferences. Award value is $200-400, depending on the number of winners and available resources.
