Undergrads (Psych)

This section includes: (a) information about undergraduate requirements to join Psi Chi and (b) the application procedure you should follow to become a member. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

All undergraduate applicants must meet these four requirements, in addition to their major/minor specific requirements found just below:

  1. You are not eligible for membership until you reach the second term of Year 2. Transfer students are eligible as soon as they meet the course requirements for their proposed major or minor. You must have Psychology declared as your major or minor at the time you apply for membership.
  2. You must meet the GPA minimum requirements. Cumulative *AND* all psychology course GPA must be in the top 35% of all UBC students. In the 2018-2019 academic year, the cut-offs are as follows: 75.4% or higher for 2nd-years; 76.1% or higher for 3rd-years; and 80.0% or higher for 4th-years.
  3. Transfer students must meet GPA and course requirements, and must have also taken 12 credits of PSYC coursework at UBC. These 12 credits of PSYC may be used to meet course requirements.

 

 

BA in Psychology (with or without Honours)

Must have completed the following courses at minimum: PSYC 100 (or 101 and 102), PSYC 217 and six credits coming from any combination of: PSYC 218, or any PSYC 300- or 400-level courses (e.g., 100, 217, 218 and 301 meet the minimum requirements as does 101, 102, 217, 304 and 309a).

 

 

BSc in Psychology (with or without Honours)

Must have completed the following courses at minimum: PSYC 100 (or 101 and 102), PSYC 270 (or 260) and at least three credits of PSYC 300- or 400-level courses (e.g., 100, 260 and 365 meet the minimum requirements as does 101, 102, 260 and 300).

 

 

BA minor in Psychology

Must have completed the following courses at minimum: PSYC 100 (or 101 and 102), six credits of PSYC 200-level courses and six credits of from any PSYC 300- or 400-level courses ( e.g., 100, 207, 208, 305 and 322 meet the minimum requirements as does 101, 102, 207, 208, 309a and 333).

 

BSc minor in Psychology

Must have completed the following courses at minimum: PSYC 100 (or 101 and 102) and nine credits of any PSYC 300- or 400-level courses.
